My career as an artist began in the early 1970s’ with Omowale Stuart at
Yoruba Yard and then De PAM. I remained very active in the art scene
into the 80’s taking part in every show until the tragic death of my friend
and fellow artist Randolph Batiste. I spent the sabbatical coaching
cycling and swimming and working in the family businesses – music (my
other passion) with my brother and food with my mother.

I returned to art in the 2000s’ with the influence of my friend
Nigel Pierre and re-entered the Barbados Arts Council to serve
as Vice President and President over the years.

In 2007 I picked up my camera again and with an invitation from Leslie Taylor to join the Barbados Photographic Society began my journey to becoming a photo-artist (an artist painting with a camera). I entered NIFCA winning two bronze medals.

2008 was a momentous year. I exhibited in four shows at Queens Park
Gallery, three at Barbados Arts Council, one at Gallery of Caribbean Art
and two overseas shows, China and Russia. NIFCA was a big success as
I
won Gold, Silver and Bronze and two awards – Most Improved
Photographer and Best Black and White Photo.

In 2014 I had a ground-breaking show, “Heritage Chronical” at the Errol
Barrow Centre for Creative Imagination (UWI) and the following year
I released my coffee table book of black and white photographs,
“Heritage Barbados”.

At present, I am prepared for a show overseas.

On the music side I have worked several years with National Cultural
Foundation as a Judge for Party Monarch and also served as Chief Judge
for a couple of years.
